2004-11-04 - 4:45 p.m. this we shall discuss you don't know this, but when you are in bed and have fallen asleep (finally!), your dad crawls into bed after he has watched a little TV, and we talk about you. we talk about how cute you are when you are asleep, and how similar you look to when you were a newborn. we talk about all of the funny things you say, how you exhorted me to "not think about it" when i told you that i would think about Xmas presents, or how you say "that's awesome," or "look at this, man"--two phrases that you picked up at school. we talk about how you have an exaggerated smile, or how you are obessed with stinky feet. we talk about your "spiderman kisses" and your "nothing kisses" and how cute you look in your dog pajamas that are steadily become too small for you (what to do?!?). you bring this windstorm of wonder and humor and tiny emotion to our lives, and we get so caught up in it. i hear laughter through the walls when your father reads you bedtime stories and it makes me happy. i kiss tufts of fine down hair on the top of your head and wish that my day was simply filled with the accompanying emotion. so whether you know it or no, we talk about you. your dad worries about you, i worry about you--that you will be a good person when you grow up. we're doing what we can.
